Reduction in reimbursements of dental treatment

From 1 October 2023, dental treatment and dental surgeons’ fees will be reimbursed at 60% of the standard health insurance rate, compared to the previous rate of 70% (decree no. 2023-701 of 31 July 2023).

Dental care, prostheses and orthodontic treatment are reimbursed, but are governed by specific tariffs and some of these have changed since 15th October 2023. You can read about the different tariffs

Please note that, at the time of going to press, the English version of the government website was still to be updated with the new changes.

The amounts not reimbursed by the French Assurance Maladie may be covered by your complementary health insurance (Mutuelle) if your personal contract covers dental care, so it’s worth checking the cover you have in place with your insurance provider.
