Foreign Diploma recognition in France

Do you want to have your foreign diploma recognised in France?

The criteria for the recognition of diplomas are different according to the organization of your studies and according to the profession envisaged. The Enic-Naric Center (French information center on the academic and professional recognition of diplomas) can provide you with a certificate of recognition of your foreigner’s diploma, called attestation of comparability.

The criteria for recognition are different depending on whether your profession is regulated or not.

Non-regulated profession:

It is your future employer who evaluates the qualifications or diplomas presented and the professional level. They may ask you to provide them with an attestation of comparability.

The statement of comparability shall be issued by the Enic-Naric Center. This certificate describes the level of study of the foreigner’s diploma and compares it to the level of French studies using an analysis grid that applies the principles of international texts. Only a diploma recognized by the issuing country may be the subject of a comparability certificate. Diploma courses are the only ones to be considered.

The certificate cost is €90 and the payment is made online at the time of application.

Regulated Profession:

There are 2 types of regulated professions:

  1. The liberal professions and ministerial offices (e.g. lawyer, commissioner of justice, architect, doctor) and
  2. Trade and craft occupations (e.g. mechanics, hairdressers)

The procedure and costs differ depending on the regulated professions and whether you have obtained your degree in the European Union or not. Read more here.
